The Hellacopters – Doornroosje, Nijmegen

The Hellacopters were a Swedish garage rock band that was formed in 1994. The band was, together with The Hives, one of the most important Swedish bands in the garage rock revival and one of the most influential rock bands in Sweden.

The Hellacopters were initially conceived as a side project for Nicke Andersson, a.k.a. Nick Royale and Dregen, but it eventually became the main songwriting and performance vehicle for Andersson. The band released their Swedish Grammy-winning debut album Supershitty to the Max! in 1996. Just before a tour opening for Kiss.

The band recorded their fifth album By the Grace of God wich came out on September 18, 2002. It became the band’s most commercially successful album. In 2003 they played in Nijmegen, The Netherlands where I photograph the band for the first time.
